The exhibition “The gestures of heritage”, organised by the Heritage Institute (Institut du Patrimoine), presents photographs by Guy Focant, photographer at Wallonia’s Heritage department for twenty years or so. Guy Focant pushed the doors of artisans’ workshops and visited the worksites of those craftsmen and women whose everyday passion is to devote their skills to the preservation of Wallonia’s rich heritage. Through his high-quality photographs, those daily gestures of professional craftsmanship seem to be taking place under the visitor’s gaze and, by the same token, bestow the substance of heritage with the human dimension which is sometimes lacking.
