Face to Face. The mask in the comic strip

In the context of the Wallonia-Brussels 2010 BD Comic Strip theme year, Stavelot Abbey proposes, through five continents, a confrontation between the image of masks depicted in the comic strip and those of the collections of the Mask Museum of Binche.

Sixty-five years later, Stavelot remembers its September liberators and its December defenders. Once again, it wants to honour and tell its children the joy of refound freedom and the blood that needed to be shed to safeguard that freedom.

The car in comic strips
Stavelot Abbey presents the exhibition “The Car in Comic Strips” from 8 May to 20 September.
Three events not to be missed, during the exhibition:
- Saturday 9 May, “Tintin Rally” in the Abbey courtyard, from 12.30 to 14.00
- Weekend of 22 and 23 August, huge display of vintage comic book vehicles on the Abbey site (Retro-Mobile)
- Sunday 13 september, 14.30 to 18.00, book signing at the Abbey with the Studio Graton (Michel Vaillant), Olivier Saive (Les Poulets du Kentucky), and many others.

Fabulous pedal cars

From Friday 3 October 2008 to Sunday 26 April 2009, Stavelot Abbey presents a range of pedal cars dating from the 1900s to the 1980s.
These cars representative of each decade come from the JAMMET collection, currently conserved at the Cité de l’Automobile, the Car Museum in Mulhouse.

Stavelot Abbey, a landmark of cultural tourism, presents a summer exhibition (20 June – 14 September) devoted to artists who left their mark on the history of painting in the Liège region at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
